Just as L’Asso makes plans to open in the East Village, another of the hood’s pizza purveyors, Veloce Pizzeria, has shuttered, reports E.V. Grieve. Though a sign the blogger photographed reads “closed for renovations,” when we called, a recording said the restaurant “will be relocating to midtown Manhattan sometime in 2012.” And that’s not the only shutter in the Veloce family: Just the other day, Zagat reported Bar Carrera on Second Avenue had closed. Could bigger changes in the Veloce-Carrera group be afoot? More info as we learn it. [EV Grieve]
