OpenTable’s stock took a tiny tumble today when Google announced that it would be buying Zagat. But if the news concerned Danny Meyer — listed as a director of OpenTable, but also the owner of perennial Zagat favorites like Gramercy Tavern and Union Square Cafe — he wasn’t letting on. When we asked him about the deal, he remained ever the diplomat, telling us via e-mail, “Zagat built its success on the voice of the people. If Google can succeed in amplifying those voices online, the brand should grow even bigger than ever.” (He probably isn’t worried because “the people” seem to love pretty much everything Danny does.)
