Sorella Roof Shattered by Rogue Coors Light; Veniero’s Baker Opens Shop in Brooklyn

Bay Ridge: Joe Monaco, veteran of East Village favorite Veniero’s, is opening Monaco’s Bakery and Cafe at 8511 Third Avenue, near 85th Street. [NYDN]

Everywhere: On September 25, a host of restaurants (including Waverly Inn, Buttermilk Channel, all ’wichcraft locations, Telepan, and more) will donate up to 10 percent of their sales to Just Food and GrowNYC as part of Dine Out Irene, an event dedicated to helping local farms recover from Hurricane Irene. Midtown East: Alfama is having guest chef Thiago Freitas serve up four-course Brazilian dinners for six nights starting on September 4, Brazilian Day. The special will include spiced crab gratin, fish stew, coconut compote, and more, all for $65. [Grub Street]


Upper East Side: The Joy of Cheese has three fall tastings lined up for September 21, October 19, and November 9 (all Wednesdays) at 7 p.m. Each night will feature six cheese and wine pairings and be held at wine shop Premier Cru (1163 Madison Avenue, near 85th Street).
