New Yorkers used to go to Madison Square Garden for Madonna, basketball, and beer, but after being closed for twenty weeks, it’s officially reopening as a place for hard-core foodies too. The Times talks to Andrew Carmellini about his cerebral sausage, and Jean-Georges and Drew Nieporent about bringing sophisticated food to the high-spirited mecca. However, if you prefer fresh air to sweaty sports fans, Madison Square Park is also revving up their food status. From September 23 to October 21, the park presents their annual pop-up food market with more than twenty local merchants, including Roberta’s, Red Hook Lobster Pound, Junoon, and more. [NYT]
