Pine Nuts Are the New Cantaloupe

We know to think twice about mystery-meat consumption and odd mushrooms foraged in Prospect Park, but now sweet little pine nuts are on the “beware of” list too. According to the Huffington Post, Wegmans has recalled 5,000 pounds of pine nuts sold in bulk throughout New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, and Maryland after salmonella made 42 people sick. The bad shipment was imported from Turkey by Sunrise Commodities and sold between July 1 and October 18. So best to throw those away with your demonic cantaloupe, and keep your eyes open for the next innocuous food threat. Like, cough drops or couscous. [HuffPo]
