Food-Truck Troubles Hit Soho

Endangered species?
Endangered species?

The complaints against mobile vending that put many midtown food trucks in danger over the summer are now cropping up in Soho, where neighbors have begun griping about crowding, legality, and garbage issues. DNA Info writes that at a recent Community Board 2 meeting, the big item on the agenda was concern over mobile vendors (carts, trucks, and those tables that pop up on weekends) and whether they’re breaking laws that prohibit selling wares less than twenty feet from a building entrance. One hot-dog vendor interviewed by the site actually admitted that, “From Houston to Canal [on Broadway], maybe three carts are legal.” Oops, better get your dirty water dogs and roasted nuts while you can. Speaking of trucks, today’s the last day for that Mastercard Priceless free food-truck lunch promotion, with Souvlaki GR, Korilla BBQ, other popular wheeled eateries onboard. Check out the list of vendors and locations here. [DNA Info]
