Echoing a similarly disturbing incident that took place last month at a California Chik-fil-A, a customer at a New York City Papa John’s was handed a receipt by an employee who had assigned her the racist moniker “lady chinky eyes.” ProPublica communications manager Minhee Cho tweeted a photo of her receipt, at the chain’s Twitter account, along with the message, “Hey @PapaJohns just FYI my name isn’t ‘lady chinky eyes.’”

The photo, which now has more than 213,000 views, promptly went viral; the Hamilton Heights franchise location has since fired the cashier, and the company has broadcast an apology on its website and throughout social media, in part saying, “this act goes against our company values.”
