While the Potbelly chain loosens its girdle and continues to open new shops — another one is coming to the fashion district — we’re more chipper this morning to hear that the tiny Westhampton Beach Pizzetteria Brunetti is scouting spaces in the city for its second location. Slice has learned that owner Jason Brunetti plans to open a second Pizzetteria Brunetti in NYC, bringing west their wood-fired, “Neapolitan-inspired” pies (see their review here) — including the standout Brunetti Vongole, a compact, billowy clam pie sporting a crater of clams, parsley, and garlic. Also, Mathieu Palombino is apparently a Brunetti fan: “He has something special when it comes to making pizza,” the Motorino chef told Slice last summer. “He is a natural, like a grandma, cooks amazing food effortlessly.” [Real Deal, Slice/Serious Eats]
