Just a quick note in case you missed it last week (understandable): The latest edition of New York is the annual Where to Eat issue, and in it Adam Platt turns his critical attention not to a single restaurant, but to the city's entire dining landscape. First and foremost, Platty ranks the city's top 101 restaurants and finds that things are "vastly different" than they were in 2006, the last time he attempted what he calls a "reckless, possibly insane idea." He also breaks down all the restaurants that gained and lost stars since the last list, lays out 46 spots that made the cut in 2006 but not this year (and explains why), pays homage to the 22 restaurants that have closed since the last time he put together the Platt 101, and highlights the five most influential restaurants of the last six years. All that, plus the ten best new restaurants to open last year. We suggest checking it all out to brush up in time for 2012. [NYM]
