Last summer we lamented the loss of our prosciutto-ball source, Joe's Superette, noting that the fried morsels could still be had at various spots around town though it wasn't the same. Well now, Chow brings word that Joe's secret-recipe balls may live on at Original Ray's replacement Prince Street Pizza, which has brought in a longtime Joe's manager to make its fried balls. Joe's fritters contained ricotta, mozzarella, black pepper, and prosciutto cotto, just as these seem to: one Chowhound-er couldn't tell them apart. Commenters, has anybody sampled Prince Street's balls, and do they taste like Joe's? [Chow]
