Everyone’s favorite gelato stand, Black Dog Gelato, is moving into the Bleeding Heart Bakery space near Belmont and Damen at 1955 W. Belmont. Owner Jessie Oloroso is taking over the space as a second location in which to sell her gelato and, apparently, to expand in new directions— she cites a Hawaiian sundae with grilled pineapple and barbecue sauce as one example. Meanwhile, Dallas-based Paciugo will also be opening in the neighborhood in May, in a spot next door to Kitsch’n on Roscoe at 2057 W. Roscoe. Throw in Scooter’s and Mario & Gino’s Burger Shop and Italian Ice, and with all its breakfast joints, it’s a neighborhood where you really never have to eat like a grownup at all— you can just go straight from pancakes to ice cream.
