This week, Michael McConnell debuts his hit coffee shop CaffĂ© Vita and pizzeria Via Tribunali next door to one another on the Lower East Side at 122 and 124 Ludlow Street. Via Tribunali — already a smash in Capitol Hill and Seattle, among four other locations (now including New York) — has a handmade Vesuvius brick oven to achieve the desired 1000 degrees temperature necessary for creating a Neapolitan pizza crust in 45 seconds, and everything needed to construct the oven on-site in New York City was imported directly from Naples. They're serving dinner only this week, lunch starts on March 16. (By the way, CaffĂ© Vita, next door, is pouring free coffee to lucky customers this week!)
