This week, Michael McConnell debuts his hit coffee shop Caffé Vita and pizzeria Via Tribunali next door to one another on the Lower East Side at 122 and 124 Ludlow Street. Via Tribunali — already a smash in Capitol Hill and Seattle, among four other locations (now including New York) — has a handmade Vesuvius brick oven to achieve the desired 1000 degrees temperature necessary for creating a Neapolitan pizza crust in 45 seconds, and everything needed to construct the oven on-site in New York City was imported directly from Naples. They're serving dinner only this week, lunch starts on March 16. (By the way, Caffé Vita, next door, is pouring free coffee to lucky customers this week!)
