This morning we received word from a principal at Surfas that the 74-year-old restaurant supply store is “seriously considering” opening a new location at a high-end shopping mall in Orange County (probably South Coast Plaza or Fashion Island). The Surfas employee currently puts his talk into the rumor file, but says it’s one that is “well substantiated,” to be possibly followed-up by an announcement as soon as next week. Obviously, for anyone who knows Surfas, this is a very good thing for O.C., which continues to benefit from a trickle of big names spreading south.
