In case you hadn’t heard, the Barnes is built, stocked with more French impressionists than you can shake a stick at, and it’s ready to open. Once you’ve made your way to the Parkway for an afternoon of musing, take the opportunity to check out the area’s dining scene.

At Hickory Lane, Chef Matt Zagorski of Rouge Burger fame is offering an American bistro menu of breakfast, lunch, and dinner items. There really is something there for everyone and the prices top out at $30 for a 10 oz. strip steak. Hickory Lane is also a byob, allowing you to try out that impressionist inspired vino your grandma’s got tucked away. Just for such an occasion.

Over at McCrossen’s Tavern, just a couple of blocks north of the Barnes, Chef Townsend Wentz just dropped his new spring menu including a Scottish Salmon Paillard that sounds delish. McCrossen’s is open for lunch and dinner and also hosts monthly events, which could be a fun way to make a night of a museum trip.

Fare Restaurant offers an organic take on Art Museum dining for cocktails, lunch, dinner and brunch, seven days a week. The lunch menu keeps prices under $20 for most items and with its specific emphasis on local and sustainable ingredients Fare’s health conscious style makes for an energizing afternoon reprieve.

Tim Spinner’s La Calaca Feliz offers a 3-bell, Mexican experience. The menu ranges from familiar to provocative and all for under $20. Right now, La Calaca Feliz is open just for dinner, so it’s a great place to end the day.
