Los Feliz’s charming Barnsdall Park played host to “Taste of the Eastside” yesterday, spread atop the hillside with families, drunkies, and reps from a load of locally loved restaurants, all enjoying the early summer sun and 360-degree vistas. While Guisado’s somehow didn’t make it as planned, denying the “eastside” event its eastern-most reference point, Yuca’s didn’t forget where it came from and staved off taco madness with its James Beard-winning cochinita pibil. Also popular were the kumiais freshly shucked by the boys at L & E Oyster Bar, vegan buffalo cauliflower from Mohawk Bend, pavloas with SQIRL preserves from Proof Bakery, pates served from the hands of actor Andre Royo at Canele, and silver dollar-sized pancakes with itty bitty squiggles of bacon from Square One.
