Another grocery strike was narrowly averted in Southern California last fall, but it appears employees at Albertson’s are still being hammered, with reports that 2,500 staff-members of the grocery giant will be laid-off in the weeks to come. The Supervalu-owned supermarket chain down-sized this past winter and is set to fire staff at 247 stores stretching through The Southland and Southern Nevada starting June 17. USA Today reports that staff will be cut at every store, with no word on any closings, while Albertson’s attempts to regain a foothold to overcome sliding sales. [USA Today]
