Hey, here’s something novel: A former employee is suing a big-name restaurateur over wage violations and Maimon Kirschenbaum appears not to be involved. According to a report from Law360 (subscription required), Graciela Roman worked as a busser at Bar Boulud and Boulud Sud between the years of 2007 and 2012. She says she spent much of her shift doing “side work” such as sweeping, taking out garbage, etc. But while she was doing that, she “was wrongfully paid the lower, tipped-credit minimum wage rate, rather than the nontipped minimum wage.” Roman also claims she was “required to engage in a tip distribution scheme” and that she was not compensated for overtime work. Boulud’s camp had no comment. [Law360]
