Jeanne & Gaston, a contemporary French restaurant in the West Village, now has happy hour(s) at the bar from 4 p.m. until closing … every single night of the week.

• Eat, clean, repeat: Lavaan, a new, super-chic West Village dental spa, is offering complimentary snacks, white wine, and a major discount on “The Flash,” a twenty-minute whitening treatment, this Thursday, in time for Fashion Week parties.

• Café Spice Dosateria and Lassi Bar opened today inside Whole Foods Tribeca. The café serves breakfast dosas filled with egg, followed by dosas, uttapan, and kati rolls for lunch and dinner; try the killer butter chicken.

• Celebrate Brazilian Independence Day (happening Friday) at SushiSamba with Brazilian-inspired food specials and cocktails featuring cachaça. We guess that Sete de Setembro festivities add a hefty tally to the 4 million gallons of cachaça annually consumed by the rest of the world outside Brazil.

The Stand, a restaurant and comedy club in Gramercy, is now open. There’s stand-up comedy on the stage and a chef from Sons of Essex cooking up food in the kitchen. [UrbanDaddy]

• Part benefit, part business seminar — plenty of desserts. At Cool Cravings & Hot Startups, learn what it takes to be a NYC start-up from successful food entrepreneurs while sampling desserts from the likes of SkyIce and Stogo. Part of the proceeds benefit Wellness in the Schools, which “inspires healthy eating, environmental awareness and fitness as a way of life for kids in public schools across the country.” The event takes place Saturday, September 8 from noon to 6 p.m, with tickets here

• Lowell Hawthorne, CEO of Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill, has written a memoir, The Baker’s Son. The Caribbean food franchise, which began in the Bronx, now has more than 120 branches. [NYDN]

• NFL legend Boomer Esiason’s mega-sports-bar, The Stadium Grill, will open tomorrow (September 5). The bar and grill — which features stadium-style seating, an 80-foot-long bar, 29 HD television screens — resides at midtown’s Bowlmor Lanes. Expect burgers, sliders, cheesesteaks, and something called a “Big Can O’ Nachos.”
