As the Bowery continues to cede its restaurant supply stores to restaurants and bars, Crain's has a few more details on that Paulaner brewpub opening on the street. The man behind it is former Mandarin Oriental GM Rudolf Tauscher, who's not deterred by the failure of other breweries in Manhattan as Crain's points out, pretty much every facility that opened during the nineties' brewpub craze has closed or moved production elsewhere.

Yet Tauscher, whose family owns a brewery in Bavaria, thinks he can make a go at it in partnership with the famed German brand here, customers will once again be able to dine and drink in the 4,000-square-foot facility while looking at giant beer tanks. The food menu will be a mix of Alsatian, Austrian, and German fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner think "Wiener schnitzel, sausages, freshly made bread and soft pretzels." Also in the works: New York Stategrown hops. Look for an opening early next year.
