Loosen your belt. The Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival is back. And there’s more to this glitzy South Beach transplant than the chance to gobble 35 meatballs followed by 30 hamburgers at the Pat LaFrieda-sponsored Meatball Madness and Burger Bash showdowns, or the foodie frisson of spotting small-screen superstars Guy, Giada, Rachael, Bobby, and Sandra in the flesh. Among this year’s highlights: Food-truck pioneer Roy Choi collaborates with Jean-Georges Vongerichten and his wife, Marja, on a Korean-inspired feast; Mile End hosts a new-wave Shabbat dinner, bone-marrow matzo balls included; and Anthony Bourdain subjects himself to a Carolines-produced roast. Not to mention an inspired bit of counterprogramming—dueling brunches by Gabrielle Hamilton and Paula Deen. October 11-14; various locations; nycwineandfoodfestival.com.
