Nurse Accidentally Kills Hospital Patient With Coffee Injection

Anyone who ever thought that whole death-by-chocolate enterprise was sorta macabre will no doubt be equally unhappy to hear about this case of suffocation by coffee: A student nurse named Rejane Moreira Telles was just three days into her training at a Rio de Janeiro clinic when she injected an elderly woman with milky coffee by mistake. “Anyone can get confused,” Telles told the TV show Fantastico, explaining that the blood and the coffee were next to each other at the 80-year-old patient’s bedside. “I injected the coffee, and I put it in the wrong place.” The coffee entered the patient’s heart and lungs, drowning her within hours. The deceased woman’s daughter apparently saw the whole thing go down. “This youngster put coffee with milk into the veins of my mother,” she told the Brazilian show, “half a glass.” Telles has been charged with manslaughter.
