Café Greco Has Closed on the Upper East Side

The 25-year-old, seafood-heavy Upper East Side restaurant Café Greco closed sometime during the past couple of weeks. The restaurant arrived in 1987 as a Mediterranean bistro, flush with lamb chops and salmon carpaccio, under the direction of Ouest chef Tom Valenti, who was then coming off a stint at Gotham Bar. Phone calls to the restaurant in the last week have gone unanswered, and now we see its contents are being auctioned off this afternoon. So long guys, and thanks for all the spanakopita.
