Busy Schedules

José Andrés Signs On for Yet Another Gig

Make that professor Andrés.

Chef José Andrés is already busy running a bunch of restaurants in cities around the country; spearheading the International Culinary Center’s Spanish food program; dropping into Harvard from time to time; showing Americans the proper way to use a porrón; and being an overall ambassador of all things molecular. It must be time to add yet another endeavor to his already-packed schedule: The AP says Andrés will teach a course at George Washington University focused on “how food shapes civilization.”

Per the report, the class will be open to 230 students, and topics will include “the politics and history of food, hunger and obesity and food’s relationship with national security.” The class won’t get underway until next year, so hopefully this won’t delay Andrés’s plans to finally open a restaurant in New York.
