Good news, chocolate people: The Sapparo-based bean-to-bar chocolate-maker Royce’ will open its first U.S. location in a few weeks, in 375 square feet on the 21st floor of 509 Madison Avenue. Not wasting any time, a second shop will follow at 253 Bleecker Street, opposite Murray’s Cheese, reports the Commercial Observer. At 620 square feet, the West Village chocolate shop seems like it’ll have both more leg room and foot traffic. The company is known for its chunky bars made with Hokkaido milk, as well as a full variety of high-end confections including truffles and chocolate-covered potato chips. At stores throughout Japan and Asia, purchases are wrapped in insulating sleeves to protect the chocolate from the heat. [Royce’/Facebook, Earlier]
