Brown Cafe on the LES Closes; South American Wine Tasting at Corkbuzz

• The LES’s much-beloved Brown Cafe is shuttering its doors after twelve years of business to “focus on the development of multifaceted projects which include a nonprofit food awareness program for public schools.” [The Lo-Down]

• This Sunday, January 6, neighborhood-centric blog Greenpointers.com is hosting the first of its Sunday Suppers event series at Manhattan Avenue cocktail joint Beloved. NYChilifest is set to make its third annual appearance on January 27 at Chelsea Market, where attendees can traipse around the 500-foot concourse and shovel in as much of the city’s best chili as humanly possible (prepared by the likes of Beer Table, Brooklyn Star, Pies n’ Thighs and more).
