The canned tuna fish giant has issued a voluntary recall on several batches of five-ounce Chunk White Albacore and Chunk Light Tuna cans after it was discovered they “do not meet the company’s standards for seal tightness.” Wonder what the food scientist Harold McGee, who counterintuitively suggests that aging and heating canned food may improve the flavor of their contents, would say about all of this. We’re guessing he’d just shake his head and point to the trash bin. [FDA via Consumerist, Lucky Peach/Slate]
