More news on that blockbuster, $28 million food-related overhaul of Terminal 4 at JFK airport today. In addition to the arrival of two Shack Shacks, Blue Smoke, Nancy Silverton’s La Brea Bakery, and two new concepts from Marcus Samuelsson, SSP America has announced that more restaurants and takeaway spots will open inside the airport. They include the “whimsical bakery” Cake Tin, the locavore-ish Camden Food Co., and an outpost of wine bar Le Grand Comptoir. There’s also going to be a restaurant open to both travelers and the public in the arrivals hall called Central Diner, which is being described as a “1930’s inspired, full-fledged New York diner.” Above is your first look at the airport’s Shake Shack, which, with an up-front refrigerated case and a corner location, seems particularly suited to handle crowds. That’s all fine and good, but will there be an airport Shack-cam? [Earlier]
