We knew that longtime co-chefs Lee Hanson and Riad Nasr had left their positions, but is something much more seismic about to happen within Keith McNally’s restaurant group? “Devastating news that Balthazar will close at end of lease,” food writer Gael Greene tweeted this afternoon, “I have always felt it was Paris in NY. Say it isn’t so Keith. Pastis too.” Of course, we’ve been down this road before, and thankfully, Eater editor Gabe Ulla went straight to the restaurateur, tweeting, “For what it’s worth: McNally, as of five minutes ago, says it’s ‘categorically not true’ that Balthazar and Pastis will close.” McNally’s said it isn’t so; so for now, bring on the steak frites.
