These guys are dubbed the “Guy and Lady of the Night.”

Noir Lounge (581 Hayes Street), the movie theater-themed wine bar that we first heard about last spring, made its soft-opening debut last week, and it is open again today, as we speak, celebrating opening day of the Giants’ baseball season. (They’ve got a big screen in back for TV and film viewing.) There are twenty wines by the glass, with six on tap, and twenty craft beers from around the world. Expect a menu of wine-friendly snacks on a cinema theme, like flavored popcorns, Dr. Pepper-flavored cotton candy, and in an homage to the predecessor in the space (Frjtz), they’re doing herbed frites with a few choices of toppings.*

See some of the photos of the space, which features film-noir-ish touches like light streaming through ceiling vents, and a shadowbox image of two silhouetted figures, male and female, standing outside a window.

Check for more soft opening hours on Facebook.

Update: There’s been a last-minute chef shuffle, and the newly named opening chef is Joanna Karlinsky of Sweet Jo’s Chili and Biscuits.

Noir Lounge - 581 Hayes Street - 415-431-6647 - Opening hours TBA.
