Coney Island Nathan’s Famous Damaged by Fire

More bad news.
More bad news.

Fork in the Road relays the bad news that Coney Island’s flagship Nathan’s Famous at the corner of Stillwell and Surf Avenues was the site of a serious-looking rooftop fire on Saturday morning. Thankfully, the blaze, which left clouds of thick black smoke more than 50 feet above the restaurant, was extinguished after twenty minutes. No serious damage has been reported, but the incident is nonetheless the latest setback for the fast-food chain, which has been in the process of rebuilding its Hurricane Sandy-damaged restaurants along the beach. The hot-dog giant has reopened on the boardwalk, but its larger store is still under renovation. [Fork in the Road/VV, Earlier]
