The Chain Gang

Against All Reasonable Odds, a Man Insists This Giant Mouse Was in His McDonald’s Coffee

Coffee drinker and Canadian citizen Ron Morais maybe relies on caffeine a little too much to wake him up, because he insists he only encountered this sizable rodent when he got to the bottom of his cup of McDonald’s coffee. The discovery wasn’t made as the result of a funny flavor, a heavier-than-usual cup, or something furry knocking around the dregs of his dark roast, he says, but after he moved to “take the lid off to get my last sip.”

The fast-food chain released a statement reassuring everyone that public-health officials “found no evidence of any pest issues in the building,” though Morais complains the creature left “a few little, shall we say, presents” at the bottom of his cup as well. Meanwhile, mouse-coffee conspiracy theorists have been working overtime to figure out how a furry guy got into a cup that was presumably stocked in a sleeve with lots of other cups, all upside-down, or into a coffee pot. Was this an act of employee sabotage? Did the mouse drown in the McCafé? All will no doubt be revealed on an upcoming episode of whatever the McDonald’s Canada equivalent of the CSI franchise is, but for the Stuart Little set.
