Southern-inspired 169 Bar — which has been in business for over 100 years, and is one of the last original places in the trendy new “Two Bridges” neighborhood — is in major trouble for selling alcohol to minors. The city recently filed a lawsuit seeking $1,000 for each day the bar permitted underage drinking, and asking the New York Supreme Court to sell all its belongings and close the establishment.

Owner Charles Hanson says that 169 Bar is under fire because of a neighbor’s complaints, and that he’s not “actively trying to profit off of underage drinkers — that’s a ridiculous accusation.” Two underage auxiliary officers (the coolest kids in school, clearly) got caught drinking beer, which doesn’t help the case. Stay tuned until April 16 — the next scheduled court case.
