Spike Lee’s Latest Joint: The Twenty-Ounce Appletini

It was weird enough when Spike Lee lent his name to Absolut’s latest flavor, but this has to cross some sort of line: Dallas BBQ (no stranger to garish advertising) has declared its frozen apple martini “a Spike Lee collaboration” (just like it says on the bottle of Absolut Brooklyn). Maybe Spike hasn’t lost all credibility: The slophouse’s motto is “Real New Yorkers Party Here.” Meanwhile, Zagat Buzz spots a “glorified deli” advertising its “Pat LaFrieda’s Burger” and wonders, “Does this sort of thing dilute the brand, or do you want to gorge on LaFrieda anytime you have the chance?”
