James Beard Awards

James Beard Foundation to Live-Stream This Year’s Awards

Grub Street just learned that the James Beard Foundation will announce on Thursday that they’ll be streaming this year’s James Beard Awards live from New York’s Lincoln Center on Monday, May 9. (Festivities begin at 6 p.m.) But if web-watching isn’t your thing, you might also be happy to know that they’ve rounded up a gang of digital editors to help live-blog the festivities.

Chris Stang and Andrew Steinthal of Immaculate Infatuation, Fiona Tang and Amy Cao of Foodspotting, and Megan Krigbaum, associate wine editor at Food & Wine, will handle blogging duties. Michael Harlan Turkell, photo editor at Edible Brooklyn and Edible Manhattan, will be on photo, and Savory Cities’ Chris and Jennifer McBride will be in charge of red-carpet videos and interviews, alongside Jennifer Leuzzi of Snack. (And of course there will be live-tweeting going on as well.)

Here on Grub Street, we’ll also be fighting through our inevitable hangovers Tuesday morning to make sure we deliver all of the interesting news from the after-parties, the after-after-parties, and then probably the after-after-after-parties. Come to think of it, we might as well just start preparing ourselves now to not go to sleep next Monday.
